Short Description: Small family run wilderness island fishing lodge.
Long Description: We call ourselves a micro-lodge because it is easier than saying we are a remote B&B that serves an incredible three-meal menu and takes people fishing and wildlife viewing. Our guestrooms are located in a separate building just above the high tide line. Each has a private bathroom and a spectacular view overlooking Saginaw Channel and Admiralty Island. Guests are able to watch whales frolic and eagle antics right from their rooms.
Most folks visit us because they want to get away from the tourism cattle drive. We are about as far off the beaten path as you can get and still flush a toilet and flip a light switch. You won¿t see a road, wait in line or watch a television from the time we pick you up at Auke Bay ¿till the time we bring you safely back. We recommend at least four days to really see our beautiful waterways and account for weather contingencies or an off day of fishing but our minimum stay requirement is only two days.
We specialize in Safety, Fun and Fishing¿in that order. My wife Karen attends to your domestic comfort and prepares incredible culinary delights while I (Rick) guide you through our daily adventures aboard the REEL JOB our 26ft cabin cruiser. Whether you want to go one on one with a mighty King Salmon, test your strength on a Barn Door Halibut or arrange to fly out to a local salmon stream for a little fly-fishing with the bears we go the extra mile, to get what you came for. Combine that with the spectacular beauty of Northern Southeast Alaska and our abundance of daylight in summer and you are going to need a rest after vacation.
A look at our larger web site www.whaleseye.nu will tell you quite a bit about us including rates, information about fishing, whales and a map of the area. We hope to see you next summer.
Testimonials: I live it every day and never grow tired of it. References upon request. |
