Short Description: Lake Ontario Trout and Salmon fishing

Long Description: Experience Lake Ontario trolling at it's best with a dedicated and experienced Captain, who fishes the Eastern end of Lake Ontario for Brown trout, Lake Trout, Rainbows, Coho Salmon and the largest of the Salmon species the Chinook (aka King) Salmon. Lucky Dutchman Charters is a full time charter service. Captain Bill has been licensed by the United States Coast Guard since 1986.
The Lucky Dutchman II is a 28 ft. long by 10 ft. wide Baha Sportfisherman with twin engine propulsion and she is equiped with the latest navigational, safety and fishing equipment.
Our season starts at ice out with our primary target species being brown trout. We fish for browns along the shore line in as little as 4 feet of water. If the brown trout fishing is not as productive as we like, or we reach a limit of browns, we change our tactics and finish the day by fishing for Lake Trout in deeper water. As the season progresses and the lake warms up we add rainbows (aka steelhead) and salmon to our catch. During the summer when the thermocline forms we catch a mixed bag of fish. The fishing lines set to run at the top of the thermocline will catch brown trout and the lines set deeper in the cooler water will catch lake trout and salmon. Summer thermocline fishing in June and July is a good time for family fishing. The weather is usually warm with light winds and the Thermocline fishing is very productive. At the Eastern end of Lake Ontario August and September means Salmon fishing. During August the mature kings start to stage in the deeper water and as the season progresses the fish move closer to shore in preparation for their annual spawning run up the Salmon River. We finish our lake season in late September fishing the shallow water in front of the Salmon River for staging Chinook and Coho Salmon.
