Short Description: Luxury East-African Safaris & Kilimanjaro Climbs

Long Description: Africa! The word alone conjures up the images and romance of an era gone by. Stanley, Livingstone, Roosevelt, and Hemingway amongst others, are the specters that still impart a vibrancy and mystery to this majestic continent. Truly, no place on earth offers such staggering diversity and overwhelming scale of animal, bird and plant life. While an African safari should be the adventure of a lifetime, it can be far more--leaving an indelible imprint upon the participant: broadening, enlightening, stirring. There is a simple wonder that overcomes even the most jaded traveler as the treasures of this special land are explored. Well did Karen Von Blixen, under the nom de plume of Isak Dinesen, write that "there is something about safari life that makes you forget all your sorrows and feel as if you had drunk half a bottle of champagne, bubbling over with heartfelt gratitude for being alive." In reality, there are few places that can touch the human soul with the power and depth of the Dark Continent.

As with many pursuits, crowds of people can compromise the wilderness experience that should be the hallmark of any African safari. In recent years, some companies have abandoned the true spirit of safari in favor of using nine-passenger minivans to travel the all-too-well-worn paths. Indeed, it is hard to appreciate the vastness of Africa when confined to an overcrowded vehicle.

Happily, the true, intimate-scale African photo safari that imparts the wonder of nature is very much alive and available if one knows where to look. There are luxury safari venues that are far removed from the beaten path that cater to small numbers of travelers and introduce safari goers to the exceptional flora and fauna while in the company of the indigenous peoples, providing the additional aspect of cultural exchange. Further, within certain concessions it is possible to utilize private campsites that give one access to remote and seldom-visited, but game-rich, portions of the national parks. In addition to visiting premier properties with first-class amenities, it is imperative to have a knowledgeable, professional, naturalist guide to lead the safari to bring alive not only the wildlife aspects but also the intriguing history of these storied lands. A safari without a consummate guide is akin to watching the nature channel with the volume turned down.

With more than half a century of combined trip-guiding experience, Jambo! Travels and Robert Cooper Safaris offer a wide variety of photographic safari options in Africa and beyond and specialize in creating premier-quality, private and limited-group itineraries utilizing the most exclusive camps and bush homes available. The company, comprised of guides, relishes sharing the quintessential safari adventure with their clients. By ensuring the highest level of privacy, accommodation and personal service coupled with extraordinary, life-energizing experiences, their clients are treated to unforgettable Africa. In-home presentations and consultation with their professional guides to arrange the finest game-viewing safari experiences available are possible. Call today to discuss a personalized itinerary.
